Students preparing plants for garden

Let the fun begin!  "Seeds of hope, plants for change!" Our goal in 7th and 8th grade science is to produce enough garden starts for students to continue to grow at home and have a little plant sale at the end of May.  Students have been learning how plants act as carbon sinks as they photosynthesize.

This experiential learning project is funded by an APS and Phoenix Suns Grant that was awarded to Ms. Jackson. FJA is one of Arizona's first schools to create a climate action plan; we're educating our students what growing, and eating local (from the backyard) food looks like for sustainability. Stay tuned for some inspiring pieces of art to promote action for climate change!
