Hi, I’m Sarah Uminski, a new transplant from the east coast….specifically Asheville, NC. I started working at FJA in December of 2008. I am a resource specialist working over at the Middle School. As with many of the teachers at FJA, I have a wide range of experiences that brought me to this place called FJA. Before moving to Flagstaff, I was a carpenter for 3 years, mainly because I wanted to learn how to build things and to work with my hands. As far as school goes, I have a background in Special Education, earning both a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education Cross-Categorical and a Master of Arts in Learning Disabilities. In addition to teaching students K-12, I have also worked at experientially based wilderness programs and various non-profits. These experiences have solidified my belief that students learn best by doing.
