Snow Day Information for Flagstaff Junior Academy
The Director of FJA is responsible for issuing a snow cancellation. We are not bound in any way to follow NAU,
FUSD or any other charter school's cancellations. This also means that FJA may be closed on days that other schools
decide to remain open. The office will post a message on our
SNOWDAY HOTLINE 774-6007 ext. 73 (SD) number by 6:30 a.m.
whenever we have severe weather. We also post on our website homepage
www.fjacademy.com under 'Weather Advisory'
Please keep your radio tuned to KNAU, The Mountain, and KAFF-FM for any reports of a cancellation.
In the past, there have been instances where FUSD has called a second snow day and FJA has not. This is because
FUSD has several campuses that they must clear of snow. If most roads are clear and our campuses parking lots and
walkways have been cleared of snow, we will resume school. IF we have not called a snow day, but roads in your
neighborhood remain uncleared, we ask you to take your student's safety into consideration when determining whether he/she can safely travel to school.
There may be days when a cancellation is not required, but the roads are still covered with snow, or icy enough to
cause delays. On these occasions, a snow delay is often called to allow the morning to start a little later. SCHOOL
STARTS PROMPTLY ON A SNOW-DELAYED SCHEDULE AT 10:00 a.m. ON CEDAR AND MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPUS. There is no before care
on delayed schedule days.
