Happy summer FJA families!
We hope you are having a great summer so far. Just a reminder that the annual back to school potluck picnic is Thursday, August 5th, 5:30p at Thorpe Park. This is a great time for all families to reunite before the school year begins and for new families to meet their teachers and classmates. Remember to please bring a dish to share.
The PTG has been asked to help with a few things for the picnic - making table signs, mixing drinks, and setting up. If you are able to come a little early to help out, we would be very grateful. If you can help in anyway, please email us back, or you can email Dulcie at dulcie@npgcable.com. FJA will be providing all refreshments and paper products.
Also, we are looking for a few parents who are willing to take over the FJA PTG. We had a wonderful year and have everything in place. We believe it is good for all to rotate these positions and help is always there. We know everyone's time is important, but if you can spare some time to help with the PTG, the kids and the teachers would greatly appreciate it. There are a few parents who would be interested, but would like a co-chair or two. It could even be a group of parents heading all of it. If you have any inkling of taking over but would like more information and have questions, please email Christina at cskrocki@yahoo.comor Tracy at tctiedem@msn.comand we would be glad to answer your questions and let you know how much fun and how rewarding it was this past year.
Unfortunately, if no one steps up to take over the PTG, we may not have one this year. So, please, consider volunteering.
Finally, if you received this email but are no longer a part of the FJA family, please email us back and we will remove you from our list. Thank you.
Thanks again and have a great rest of the summer. Bring on the rain!
The FJA Parent Teacher Group
Dear FJA Families,
This year has been an awesome group effort. We would like to thank each and every one of you who gave up your time, energy, donations, and ideas to help make FJA's year a wonderful one.
As a recap, during our first year as a PTG, we held and/or helped with many events, including:
-
Back to school ice cream social, complete with toppings for each child to make their unique sundae!
-
Box tops fundraising, raising over $120 in cash for our school;
-
Donuts with Dad/Muffins with Mom, a lovely fall morning get together;
-
Fall and Spring Scholastic Book Fairs raising over $400 in books for each classroom;
-
Used book collection bins that have been donated to the classroom libraries;
-
Sally Foster fundraising, raising over $1500 in funds for FJA, enabling us to purchase a large laminator for the teachers (per their request)
-
Clean up day in October where we spruced up the campus;
-
Fall and Spring Fratelli's days where we raised almost $1,000 total just by enjoying pizza;
-
Read Across America celebration with Mayor Pressler and Dr. Seuss;
-
Family Game & Popcorn night;
-
Teacher Appreciation week;
-
Grandparent's Day;
-
Talent show and box lunches.
The PTG still has funds remaining from this year. We plan to grant teacher wishlists with most of the money while leaving enough for next fall to get us started for the new year. After all, the reason we do all of this is to support and help our teachers in any way, and in turn, our children.
Thank you again for all of your support in helping make this year a huge success. Because of all of you, our children and teachers had a great year! With all of this in mind, we continue to encourage anyone who would be interested in helping lead the PTG this fall, either as an individual or as a group of parents.
We wish all of you a wonderful summer and we will see you this fall.
The FJA Parent Teacher Group
The PTG strives to support our teachers, staff, and children in any way we can. It is our sole purpose and we thank each and every one of you for your time, donations, for your interest, and continued support.
If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please feel free to contact us any time.
Thanks again,
Tracy & Christina

PUT YOUR TAX DOLLARS TO WORK FOR EDUCATION
Donate up to $400 to Flagstaff Junior Academy by December 31
If you are an Arizona taxpayer, you can put your dollars to work in Flagstaff schools. Arizona offers a dollar-for-dollar tax credit (Public School Activity Fee) up to $200 for individual income tax filers, $400 for married couples filing a joint return and $200 for couples filing separate returns. This means your state income tax liability will be reduced by the full amount of your contribution - up to zero. (If you have extra credit left over, you can carry it forward for up to five years.) This is a full refund, not a deduction. In addition you may also deduct the contribution on Schedule A of your federal income tax. You don't have to have a child in Flagstaff school to take advantage of this program.
Flagstaff Junior Academy is a tuition-free public school that offers a Montessori-based curriculum for grades kindergarten to eighth grade. It is not affiliated with the Flagstaff Unified School District and does not receive any funds from property taxes. Programs funded through the Tax Credit program are our main source of funding for enriching extracurricular activities such as field trips. arts and sports programs
TAKE CHARGE OF EDUCATION
Here is how it works: When parents, teachers and other school supporters use their REDcard (Target Visa Credit Card, Target Credit Card, or Target Check Card), Target donates up to 1% of their purchases to their designated eligible K-12 school. The more people involved, the more FJA can earn. All you need is a REDcard to enroll and participate. Please enroll at http://www.Target.com/tcoe or call 1-800-316-6142.
