Snorkling with Sea Lions

This year’s annual excursion to CEDO in Rocky Point, Mexico to study the desert and ocean ecosystems was again a success. In addition to sleeping under the stars, playing volleyball on the beach, and gorging on Mexican food, we also snorkeled with sea lions, hiked through the Africa sized dunes of the Pinacate volcanic region, studied a pristine estuary where we nearly tripped on a 4-ft Humboldt squid, and went tide pooling at night, uncovering a large octopus and many small, scurrying sea creatures.
